Scented candles are just normal candles that have nice-smelling oils mixed in. When you burn them, they make the air smell good, which can make a room feel nicer, change your mood, or cover up bad odors.
🧪 Wax types:

Paraffin: ** It's cheap and what you usually see. Smells good, but it comes from oil.
Soy: ** Natural, keeps renewing, and burns cleaner. The smell isn't as strong as paraffin.
Beeswax: ** Natural, burns for a long time, and smells a bit like honey. They usually don't add much scent because it already smells strong.
Coconut: ** Burns super clean and smells great. It's pricier, so they mix it with other wax a lot.
Palm: ** Natural and keeps renewing (if sourced ethically). It looks crystalline and holds scent nicely.
🌬️ Fragrance Types:

Essential Oils: These come straight from plants. They're good for aromatherapy, but their smell doesn't always last or spread far.

Fragrance Oils: Usually man-made or have some essential oils mixed in. They're better if you want a strong, reliable smell.

Candle Types

Container Candles:

These go in jars or tins.

They're liked a lot and great if you're just starting out since they're the safest.

Pillar Candles:

These candles can stand up by themselves, no container needed.

You have to use a harder wax for these.

Taper Candles:

They're the tall, skinny ones you see in candle holders.

Tealight Candles:

Small and round, usually don't have much scent, or maybe just a little.

Wax Melts:

No flame needed for these; you melt them in warmers to make them smell good.

🧠 Why Use Scented Candles?

*   Good mood
*   Less stress
*   Smells nice (aromatherapy)
*   Covers bad smells
*   Sets a mood
*   Helps you relax and focus

⚠️ Be Careful!

*   Cut the wick short each time you burn it (¼ inch).
*   Don't burn for more than 4 hours straight.
*   Keep away from things that catch fire and breezy spots.
*   Never leave a candle burning if you're not there.
*   Put it on something that won't burn and can handle heat.

🧪 What Makes a Good Candle?

*   Burns flat across the top (no hole in the middle).
*   Smells good even when it's not lit or is burning.
*   Made with good stuff (no bad chemicals, lead-free wicks).
*   Doesn't smoke when it burns.

🏠 Make Your Own Candles (Easy Way)

What you need:

*   Wax (soy is good for starters)
*   Smell-good oil (or essential oils)
*   Wicks
*   Something to put it in (glass or tin)
*   Two pots, one inside the other, or a microwave-safe bowl
*   Something to stir with
*   Something to hold the wick up (pencil or clip)

What to do:

*   Melt the wax in the pot over hot water.
*   Add the smell-good oil when it's hot enough (~185°F / 85°C).
*   Pour it into your container with the wick in place.
*   Let it cool for a few days so the smell gets stronger (2–7 days).
*   Cut the wick before you light it the first time.

🌡️ Taking Care of Your Candle

*   The very first time you light it, let it burn until the whole top is melted.
*   Keep it in a cool, dark place.
*   Put the lid on when you're not using it so it keeps smelling good.
*   Blow it out with a candle snuffer so it doesn't smoke.
